The referendum debate

As the referendum campaign get's going I  go from despair to unwarranted optimism depending of course - on who I last talked to.   So have just been talking to a friend who attended a meeting in Exeter with about 70  other of 'the Great & Good' of the Exeter business community and - when the speaker - a distinguished economist - asked for a show of hands -only two out of the seventy supported leaving the EU! On the other hand I am currently employing a couple of builders and there is no nonsense about them - they are voting LEAVE in spades as is the mechanic who fixes my car.

So what does this prove? Well for a start it seems to show that the result of  a 'privileged' education at a public school followed by university is a spineless product with a yellow streak half a yard wide down its back. Conversely 'bog standard' comprehensives  still turn out patriots and people who actually dare to go against the Metropolitan elite view of life.  The GOOD NEWs is that there are a lot more people like my builders than there are professionals - so we can still hope for our freedom.

Interestingly though when you challenge an INNER to a debate on why they are for remaining in the EU they waffle and have no real zeal for their chosen path other than it is 'safer.'  Wow 'safer' to be ruled by Germans -I don't think my father or grandfather would have agreed with that.

  1. Francis.leaving the EU. WOULD PUT US ON THE SAME FOOTING AS SWITZERLAND. AND THEY SEEM TO DO RATHER WELL. MONETARY TERMS.BUT LEAVING WILL IT MAKE THE AVERAGE JOE ANY BETTER OFF IN THE long term. the country will still be controlled by the privilege elite the top 1%.as a european citizen you have more rights in europe as opposed to out.myself i havnt made up ones mind quite yet. either way i dont think its going to impact much on my current way of live. the uk gov if we vote out there arn,t all of a sudden going to deport all the illegal imigrants clogging up every city up and down the uk.if we leave i suppose we could deport terroist more quickly. june 23rd will be a end to the matter.for now.

  2. From the outside (New Zealand) looking in, I find it strange that Britain could ever have given away so much of its sovereignty by not having control over it's own borders. You would never throw open the doors of your home and say 'come on in and help yourself', but you have in effect done that. You make it harder for we Kiwis to come over, we have to stand in Heathrow in a queue marked 'other' (despite us rushing over to help in 1914 and '39) while you fill up your country with people who have no idea of reciprocity and just want to use your social welfare/ health/education system. Good luck with your referendum.

  4. Apologies Trish the Kiwi, but hopefully we have got rid of these idiots who have stolen our democracy, jobs, houses, dignity, cash, freedom of speech, identity (balls to this 'European' nonsense) independence, common sense and general well being. The insipid traitors, known as our liberal elite, cowardly sold us down the river to the EU con job. Now we have ditched this 40 year failed blip in our history most truly British people want our rightful allies back. Please be there! Rest assured there are lots of angry people that want to close the lavatory lid on this hideous mess that is the EU AND PULL THE CHAIN HARD!

  5. Glad to have our rightful pals back! Truly British people never wanted to dump our allies, it was the scummy liberal elite that suddenly felt Eastern Europeans were more important. Well stuff them, we have claimed our pride, jobs, dignity, common sense, courage, housing, NHS, school places, place in the world, laws, and general well being back. We will leave the EU DOWN THE TOILET, FLUSH VERY HARD AND SLAM THE LID SHUT. Celebrate, Britain is back!!
